Den gamle Gaard, the home of a successful local merchant and built in 1720, has been Faaborg’s local town museum from 1932 to 2021. This beautiful Grade 1 listed house provides an insight into a wealthy family’s life in Faaborg in the 1700 and 1800s. Since 2022, the local historical association, Faaborg Kulturhistoriske Museumsforening, has been responsible for the upkeep and activities at Den gamle Gaard. The association is run solely by volunteers. The association’s aim is to present Faaborg and the area’s cultural history for locals and tourists through dynamic events and exhibitions, often in collaboration with local businesses.
